Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development through its Department of Social Welfare held a simulation programme on 9 April 2005 from Kompleks MAB to the Monorail Station at KL Sentral. The City hall of Kuala Lumpur and Police played an important role to have the programme run smoothly. The main objective of the programme was to create public awareness and the importance of a barrier free walk way for the disabled persons. VIPs like the YB Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abd Jalil, Minister, Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry and the Director General of City Hall experienced the difficulties the disabled face on the walk way especially the blind and physically disabled (on wheel chair).
