Accessibility, Advocacy, & Welfare Unit

This unit works to bridge systemic gaps by raising awareness, advocating for accessibility rights, and delivering direct welfare services to visually impaired individuals.

Accessibility:

  • Conduct training and workshops for government, public, and corporates
  • Advocate for accessibility policies that enable economic independence
  • Educate the blind on built environment access, universal design, and web accessibility
  • Raise awareness of the Disability Act 2008

Awareness & Welfare:

  • Refer individuals to education, training, and employment opportunities
  • Emotional and physical support, especially for newly blind individuals
  • Financial aid and assistance
  • Welfare complaint resolution and recommendations
  • Welfare assistance schemes, home/hospital visits, and case referrals
  • Orientation & mobility training, counselling sessions, and volunteer programs
  • Elderly blind support club
